April Fools is one of my top holidays (not just because it’s my birthday), but because of the creative people that have a great sense of humor. In school it was always about some prank that you could get away with to a teacher or another classmate, but I love it when businesses use it for marketing reasons. The best example of this is Google!
I now every year look forward to what Google has in store for us for their April Fools joke. One of my favorites was the TiSP. Not until they brought You Tube in the mix that it made me LOL! On April 1st, YouTube would randomly flip everything on the screen upside down (even the movie) as a “new viewing experience“. You can still see your favorite video the flipped version by adding the following parameter to end of your video “&flip=1″. I love this Google tradition!

When I got my new iPhone I realized that my old iTrip Auto was not going to work to charge the phone since the iPhone & iTouch charge differently than my Nano. So, I went out to BestBuy to grab a new compatible iTrip. After plugging it in, I was very pleased to see the battery show up on the iPhone when it started charging the phone. However, when I tried to broadcast the songs by FM – it was horrible quality. I would continuously scan for free frequencies, and the new iTrip would find the most USED frequency.
I waited to use it too long to take it back to BestBuy, so I decided to call Griffin to see how the 1 year warranty is supported. I was first very impressed by the service I got – after a few questions, she knew the device was not working properly, and said that she can send a replacement. With any warrantied device, this is the part that usually makes me angry to have to spend more money to ship them the defective unit. However, Griffin does it much differently. She asked that I just take a picture of the original iTrip – then destroy it in some way then take a second picture them email them both to her. Because just cutting the cord is not enough fun – I decided to try to be a little more creative:
In less than a week I had my new iTrip – and it is working great! Now I have Pandora & Slacker streaming to my radio. Thanks Griffin for your great support and products!
